It should have been a regular Monday morning. The alarm went off, a lot of grumbling happened before coffee was had, and Christopher Garret should then have stepped outside his door and made his way through the bustle of London to work.
What happened instead was a slow and frightening unfurling of memories – or rather the lack of any for the past five years. Because it turns out Christopher has lost half a decade with no recollection of how or why. And the world has changed.
When he finally experiences a flash of memories, they don't belong to him but to a stranger more terrified than he is. And Christopher isn't surprised because the images he sees are horrific, and if he doesn't find their owner, those memories will become his own.
The reins of his life gone – and with the help of no one but a pink-haired, highly strung, coffee shop owner – Christopher is forced on a quest to find the stranger so he can reclaim his mind and senses. And perhaps those missing five years.
Part-unwitting psychic detective, part-supernatural thriller, 'Awakening' begins an action-filled, suspenseful series, layered with ghouls, tricksters, various types of coffee, and demons both real and personal.
